| The LA Green Festival includes presentations given by more than 125 leaders, authors and thinkers in the green movement. Speakers this year include Amy Goodman, Rev. Lennox Yearwood, John Perkins, Ed Begley, Jr., Bill McKibben, Marianne Williamson and more. From educational how-to workshops, to films, eco-fashion, activities for children and delicious organic food, beer and wine, the 2011 Los Angeles Green Festival will offer something for everyone to enjoy. Entertainment is a vital component of the festivities, including live music and dance. Santa Monica Public Library Awards Green Prizes You are invited to the annual Green Prize for Sustainable Literature, profiling current sustainable trends: buying and eating local, the commons as a way of life, rogue efforts for sustainable policies and grassroots action on October 27, at 7:00 pm. Discussion will incorporate the 2011 Green Prize-winning books. This year’s Green Prize Pioneer Award will honor Bill McKibben, author and founder of the grassroots climate campaign 350.org. McKibben was proclaimed by the Boston Globe to be “probably the country's most important environmentalist.” McKibben will speak at Los Angeles Green Festival, Sunday, Oct.30 at noon.
